Terms of Use
Effective October 31, 2026
By using Hood Ride you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use it.
1. What Hood Ride is
Hood Ride helps neighbors find each other for rides, and nothing more. We are not a taxi, transportation or ride-hailing company. We don't provide rides, employ drivers, or take part in any ride. Each ride is an arrangement solely between the rider and the driver; Hood Ride is not a party to it.
2. No checks
We don't check anyone: no background checks, no license, insurance or vehicle checks, and no identity checks beyond your sign-in account. Names and photos come from that account and may not be real. Use your own judgment about who you ride with.
3. Who can use it
You must be 18 or older. One account per person.
4. Payments
Hood Ride never handles, sets or takes any payment. Any arrangement between a rider and a driver is solely between them, and at their own risk.
5. No insurance
Hood Ride provides no insurance of any kind, for drivers, riders, cars or belongings. Drivers are responsible for their own insurance.
6. Your responsibilities
- Drivers: have a valid driver's license, registration and insurance, and a safe car, and obey all traffic laws.
- Everyone: you're responsible for following the laws where you ride, and for your own safety and conduct.
7. Be decent
Don't:
- harass, threaten, stalk or discriminate against anyone;
- use Hood Ride for anything illegal;
- create fake or duplicate accounts, or pretend to be someone else;
- send spam or advertising;
- use bots or scripts, or collect other people's information;
- try to break, overload, copy or get around the app or its protections.
8. Safety and emergencies
We can't guarantee anyone's identity, intentions or driving. If something feels wrong, don't take the ride. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (911 in the US). Hood Ride is not an emergency service, and positions on the map are approximate: never rely on them in an emergency.
9. Your account
You're responsible for your account and everything done with it. Keep your sign-in account secure, don't let anyone else use it, and tell us at once if someone does.
10. What you share
Other users see your name, photo, rough location and messages. We're not responsible for what other users do with anything you share with them.
11. Removing accounts
We may suspend or delete any account at any time, with or without notice, for breaking these terms or for anything we believe puts people at risk.
12. No guarantees
Hood Ride is free and provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranties of any kind. It may be unavailable, slow or wrong, and it may lose messages or data. We don't promise that a ride will be found, or that anyone is who they say they are.
13. Limit of our responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows: (a) Hood Ride and its operator are not responsible for anything that happens on, during, or because of a ride or meeting arranged through the app, including injury, death, damage to property, loss, theft, or the conduct of any user; (b) we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages; and (c) our total responsibility to you for any other claim is limited to $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they apply only as far as the law permits.
14. You cover your own actions
If your use of Hood Ride, your ride, or your conduct leads to a claim against Hood Ride or its operator, you agree to cover the costs, including reasonable legal fees.
15. Time limit on claims
To the extent the law allows, any claim between you and Hood Ride, by either side, must be brought within one year of when it arose, or it is permanently barred. If that limit can't be enforced, the shortest period the law allows applies.
16. Ours, and your ideas
Hood Ride, its name and its software belong to us; these terms don't give you any rights to them beyond using the app. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely, without owing you anything.
17. The fine print
- Severability: if any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- No waiver: if we don't enforce a rule once, we haven't given up the right to enforce it.
- Whole agreement: these terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Hood Ride.
- Beyond our control: we're not responsible for failures caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as outages, disasters, or the failure of services we rely on.
- Transfer: we may transfer these terms to a successor, such as a company that takes over Hood Ride.
18. Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the date above, and for significant changes we'll ask you to agree again in the app.
